Why The Oxford Tutors

Five things that are genuinely different

Most preparation services offer tutoring. We offer something more specific: a structured programme with a clear theory of what Oxford actually tests.

About us →
Oxford tutors only

Every tutor holds a first-class degree from Oxford in the relevant subject. No exceptions, regardless of how strong the candidate.

14 clients per cycle

Our intake is small by design. Each client receives direct involvement from the same senior consultant throughout.

Subject-specialist preparation

A PPE applicant works with a tutor who sat the TSA and was interviewed by Oxford Philosophy tutors. Specificity is not optional.

Diagnostic-first

We identify precisely where you are strong and where you are vulnerable before designing a single session. Generic preparation is less efficient.

Auditable results

Our 67% offer rate covers all cycles since 2017, all subjects, including non-standard profiles. We will show you the raw data on request.

What our clients say

All results & case studies →

The diagnostic changed how I understood what Oxford was looking for. I had been preparing as if it were a knowledge test. It is not — it is a reasoning test. I received an offer from Balliol for PPE in December.

PPE, Balliol College

What they did with my personal statement was extraordinary — not making it more impressive, but making it more specifically and recognisably mine. I had a rejection the previous year. This year, an offer from Exeter for Law.

T.W.
Law, Exeter College

My daughter went to a state school in Birmingham. They gave her the contextual preparation she needed without ever making her feel she was catching up. She read Chemistry at Keble.

Limited intake per cycle

If you are preparing for Oxford, the time to start is now.

We restrict our intake because quality depends on it. A discovery call costs nothing and commits you to nothing — except 45 minutes of honest conversation about what an Oxford application will actually require.

Book a Call
What is the Oxford acceptance rate, and how do you compare?+

Oxford's overall acceptance rate is approximately 17%. 67% of clients who completed a full programme with The Oxford Tutors received an offer. This figure covers all cycles since 2017 and all subjects.

When should we start preparation?+

Ideally 12–18 months before application — the start of Year 12. This allows time for subject deepening, personal statement development, and multiple rounds of mock interviews. That said, we regularly work with candidates who begin in September and still achieve excellent outcomes.

Do I need this if my school has an Oxbridge programme?+

School programmes are valuable but necessarily generalised. They cannot provide subject-specialist tutors for every course, individual diagnostic assessment, or the depth of mock interview preparation we offer.

How are tutors selected?+

Every tutor holds a first-class degree from Oxford in the relevant subject and completes a structured selection process including supervised teaching sessions. We do not use any tutor who has not been through this process.

Do you work with international students?+

Yes. We have worked with candidates from 34 countries. International preparation includes qualification equivalency, English language requirements, and the specific contextual challenges international applicants face.
